Slowly Unravelling

This is to be my random ramblings of theatre, knitting, school life, my musical in progress, and anything I feel that the world should know about me. Why? you may ask. Well I'll tell you. Because I say so.

Les Miserables (seriously)

So I'm standing in my parent's vet clinic (yes, their vets, deal with it) in a snazzy little swing dress over (not in)my shoes on a cold laminate floor wondering why dresses can't keep you warm when it's oh, 50 degrees outside and raining like there's about to be a flood. The simple answer to my conundrum is to forget the dress, where pants and be comfortable. Why don't I do this. Because we're going to the theatre. and out of respect for my artform, I dress up (and you should too)

Alright, it's the next day and I love that musical. Holy cow the sets were amazing. We're talkin' the barracade scoots together onto a stage while it(the stage floor) is rotating in a circle and people are crawiling on it. Dang. I want real sets now. Or a scrim. A scrim would be fantastic. Or a real stage. Or lights. Or an actual PAC. (my school's theatre program is seriously underfunded. Oh well. More later.

Do you hear the people sing.

So it begins...

So, I've decided to take up a short term project in the knitting department. I've decided that my seniors need hats, as they are moving out into a cold, cruel, harsh (and for some, ohian) world of college, where hats may be the only thing that can save them from an angry world.

So I have two weeks to knit upwards of nine hats. I've got four done since Saturday, but my hand is very sore and I'm gonna need to recalculate my pattern for different yarn here, real quick-like. This is what all that yarn from marvelous closing Jo-ann is going towards. (yippe-ka-yea)

Finals are coming up and I'm really starting to wonder how this whole situation is going to work out in English. We're reading the Great Gatsby (everyone should. It's hillarious) and we'll be done with it by the end of the month. I run into problems with school ending the 15th and taking the test for something we'd read to weeks ago. Yeah. smooth move on the teacher's part.

I get to see Les Miserables on Friday. I am excited!!!!

Much Love.

School and the like

This has been a...frustrating month for school. AP testing was early on. ugh is a good word for a 3 hour test involving writing 10 well thought out pages. Teachers are trying (some failing) to wind up the curiculum for the year and, well, I'm fighting with them over what my grades are posted as v. the work they should reflect. Basically, I've gone from a B+ in one class to having extra credit (don't ask me how, but I'm okay with the new system) and my English grade is crap. I can't get an accurate thing out of my teacher. For example

1st quarter grade 92.1%
2nd quarter grade 91.4%

semester grade 88.9%

okay, being that the semester is an average of the two quarters, I do believe that 88 is not the average of my quarter grades. So we get that fixed and she leaves out a test that I took early. I wasn't going to be in class, so I took it so this wouldn't happen and now my grade is and 85%. I'm going to throw a hissy fit.

Also...

Knitting is the only thing that keeps me sane. A local Joanns was closing (poor location) and I got a steal on yarn (mmm...yarn, how I love thee) I knit a hat with it this afternoon and I love it ever so much. Is that a bad thing? I finished a baby blanket the day before the shower by knitting during class nonstop for an entire week (teachers were surprisingly okay with it. apperantly the idea of small children and semi-productive hobbies gets them all misty-eyed) More later. It's really late at night and I want to sleep. Much Love.

Just for starters

This is one of those where to begin things

I tend to be really random so I guess the best place to begin is where I just left off...

We just finished a very successful school production of Little Women. I love that story. I got to be Beth and I died on stage. It was moving and tears are filling my eyes just thinking about it

My knitting is going fine. I'm knitting a baby blanket with duckies on it (that's right, I call them duckies. Deal with it) I've also got a scarf in the works (yarn is cheaper in the summer) and I finished my first pair of socks. This is the kind of knitter I am--my first pair of mittens was also my first fair isles project, first thing in the round and first time making a gusset and first time switching pattern yarn (and having it all work out) I love knitting.

These are those mittens. I love them.

JSB is tomarrow. Yeah. I'm excited, but I have to go to the Tacoma convention center at 10 to set up. icky.

Plays (and other things of cultural significance) I get to attend/already attended this year

Little Women
Cirque Du Soliel (Vakari I think)
Les Miserables (woot)
Diamonds (ballet)
Wicked (That's right! It's coming town and I have amazing seats!!!)

I think that's a good synopsis of who I am and why I am what I am at this point in time. Other than that I've got pretty much Nada. Oh, I write poetry--Sincerely on allpoetry.com read my depressedness.

Much Love.
